India vs England 4th Test Day 3 : The third day of the 4th Test match commenced with India resuming their innings at 217-7. Kuldeep Yadav, who was at the crease, lost his wicket to James Anderson, leaving India at 253-8. The tail-enders, Akash Deep and Dhruv Jurel, couldn’t add much to the score as they were dismissed at 293-9 and 307-10 respectively. Jurel fell agonizingly short of a century, scoring 90 runs off 149 balls.
India’s first innings ended at 307 and they had a narrow lead of 46 over England. England’s response was met with early failures when they began their innings. Duckett, England’s captain, was dismissed for only 19 runs. Pope, his teammate, was then dismissed by Ashwin on a lbw call, and registered his second duck in the innings. England captain Joe Root tried to stabilize the innings, but Ravichandran Ashwin sent him back to the pavilion after only 11 runs. Ashwin’s ability with the ball is evident in the fact that he took the first three English wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also joined the party, dismissing Zak Crowley for 60 off 91 deliveries. England was left struggling at 110-4. Ben Stokes also fell victim to Kuldeep’s spin and was dismissed for just 4 runs from 31 balls. The match was in the balance with England at 120-5 as both teams continued to battle for dominance.
Jadeja’s precise deliveries and clever variations led him to take crucial wickets including those of Bairstow, Tom Hartley, and Robinson, all at 133-8. Foakes and James Anderson, the tailenders, also couldn’t stand up to the pressure. Foakes was dismissed at 145-9, while Anderson followed, sealing England’s fate. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja played a crucial role in the dismissal of both English batsmen. This showed off India’s impressive bowling attack.

India began their second innings positively, despite the success of Indian bowlers. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi and Jaiswal showed confidence and calmness at the crease to give India a strong foundation. India was at 40 -0 without loss by the end of day three. Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs from 27 balls, and Yashasvi contributed 16 runs from 21 balls. India wanted to build on a promising second innings and gain a lead over England. The tension continued to rise, setting the stage for another thrilling day of cricket in this fiercely-contested Test match.
